This week during Guided Reading, students are reading and analyzing poetry that are TCAP released items. (These are poems that were formerly on previous TCAP tests).  The purpose of this is two-fold. First, it is to begin exposing students to what they can expect on TCAP and to develop confidence surrounding this upcoming test. The second is to develop test taking skills and to view tests as a type of genre, where students navigate the passages and related questions, but still use their thinking skills of visualizing, inferring, and questioning, amongst others.
