What a fantastic opportunity we had today! Although we weren't very close to President Obama, the entire experience from start to finish was unforgettable. We left shortly after 9 and at 10:30 the President addressed us. Upon return we spent time preparing for our Poetry Cafe.

At the end of the day, we went to the auditorium for an assembly. We heard it had to do with the Governor. There was excitement around the idea of seeing the Governor and the President on the same day. At the assembly it was revealed that Mr. Q., our art teacher, is the recipient of the prestigious Milken Family Foundation National Educator award! He received a $25,000 check! What a surprise! The governor was suppose to be there for this event, as Mr. Q. is the only Colorado recipient, but in the end was unable to attend. Check this website for pictures and there is even one of some students in our class! We are so proud of Mr. Q!
