Today we continued to build community, specifically focusing on "My Job" as a teacher and "Your Job" as students. We then created Essential Agreements, or rules, to help us be able to do our jobs to the best of our abilities. Our Essential Agreements are:
1. Be a communicator
  • Listen to others who are speaking. Make eye contact.
  • Ask questions when you are curious or need help.
  • Participate
  • Use the correct noise level
2. Be a Risk-Taker
  •     Ask questions
  • Present new ideas
3. Be Caring and Respectful
  • Treat others as you would like to be treated.
  • Include others
4. Be Principled and show Integrity
  • Be safe in the classroom, hallways, and playground
  • Keep your belongings, hands, and feet to yourself
  • Do the right thing even when no one is looking

We also had a math pretest today. We will also be doing STAR Math and Reading testing over the next two days on the computer. So along with this data and the upcoming DPS Interim Exams, we teachers are able to design instruction to best meet the needs of each child.

You might be wondering about homework. Students will receive a little bit of homework starting next week. However, with the Labor Day weekend and DPS Interim Exams, it will not be much. Normal homework routine will begin the week of September 10th. By that point, all students will have their assignment book. We are still waiting for the assignment books to arrive.

Currently students are in their Spanish rotation for Specials. Ask your child about our new Spanish teacher, Senor McFalls.
